Sports Lawyer

Location: Remote in the USA

As a Sports Lawyer will manage all legal aspects related to NIL regulations, sponsorship agreements, athlete representation, and sports-related contracts. This role will ensure compliance with federal, state, and international laws while supporting athletes and organizations in maximizing their NIL opportunities. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in sports law, contract negotiation, and NIL compliance, with a passion for protecting and advocating for athletes’ rights.

Responsibilities:
  • Represent athletes and sports organizations in contract negotiations, sponsorship agreements, and NIL-related partnerships.
  • Advocate for athletes’ rights and ensure all agreements align with their best interests.
  • Provide expert guidance on federal, state, and institutional NIL regulations.
  • Develop legal strategies to help athletes maximize their NIL opportunities while maintaining compliance.
  • Draft, review, and negotiate contracts for sponsorships, endorsements, licensing, and partnerships.
  • Ensure contracts are legally sound, comprehensive, and aligned with the client’s goals.
  • Oversee the legal aspects of sponsorship and endorsement deals, ensuring compliance with all applicable laws.
  • Collaborate with sponsors and brands to create mutually beneficial agreements.
  • Stay updated on NIL regulations and sports law trends, advising clients on changes and potential impacts.
  • Monitor compliance with NCAA, state, and federal guidelines.
  • Provide counsel on intellectual property rights, trademark protections, and licensing agreements.
  • Support athletes in building long-term financial security through well-structured deals.
  • Mediate disputes between athletes, organizations, and brands when necessary.
  • Represent clients in legal proceedings related to sports and NIL matters.
Qualifications:
  • Must have a Law degree.
  • Active membership in a state bar association.
  • 5+ years of experience in sports law, NIL compliance, or athlete representation.
  • Strong understanding of NCAA rules, state NIL laws, and sponsorship agreements.
  • Exceptional contract negotiation and drafting skills.
  • Excellent communication, relationship-building, and advocacy abilities.
  • Ability to manage multiple clients and projects in a fast-paced environment.
SALARY: $100K to $250K+
