Head of Illinois Sports & NIL

Location: Remote in Illinois

We are seeking a dynamic and visionary leader to serve as the Head of Illinois Sports & NIL, driving transformative initiatives across the state. This position is critical in empowering athletes, schools, teams, and organizations by leading innovative sports and Name, Image, and Likeness (NIL) programs. The ideal candidate will possess deep expertise in the sports landscape, a proven track record of leadership, and a passion for supporting athletes and fostering community growth. Candidates must be current or former athletes, executives, or owners of sports-related businesses.

Responsibilities:
  • Oversee and expand the company’s sports and NIL initiatives throughout Illinois.
  • Cultivate and sustain strong relationships with Illinois-based athletes, schools, teams, and organizations.
  • Design and implement strategies to help athletes maximize NIL opportunities while adhering to state and national regulations.
  • Partner with schools and teams to create and support programs that directly benefit student-athletes.
  • Secure strategic partnerships with Illinois brands, leagues, and sports organizations to elevate NIL and sports programs.
  • Advocate for athletes and teams while ensuring full compliance with NIL laws and guidelines specific to Illinois.
  • Represent the company’s vision and mission at Illinois-based events, conferences, and meetings.
  • Identify and onboard talented athletes, teams, and schools into NIL programs.
  • Launch and oversee Illinois -focused community outreach programs to boost sports and NIL awareness.
  • Plan and execute regional sports events, workshops, and training programs in collaboration with schools and local organizations.
  • Mentor young athletes in Illinois, educating them on the importance of responsibly navigating NIL opportunities.
  • Partner with marketing teams to craft promotional campaigns tailored to Illinois’ NIL and sports initiatives.
  • Collaborate with government entities and local organizations to secure funding and resources for state-wide sports programs.
  • Monitor industry trends and competitor activity in Illinois’ sports and NIL sectors to maintain leadership in the market.
  • Build and manage a regional team to drive operational success in Illinois.
  • Raise $25M in funding to enhance the Illinois Sports Department and expand NIL and sports programs.
  • Acquire licenses for schools to produce custom merchandise and stream games, including sideline passes.
Qualifications:
  • 10+ years of leadership experience in the sports industry.
  • Must be a current or former athlete, executive, or owner of a sports-related company.
  • Strong network within the sports industry, including relationships with athletes, teams, and brands.
  • Proven ability to lead and grow initiatives in the sports sector.
  • In-depth knowledge of NIL opportunities, regulations, and strategies.
  • Exceptional communication, negotiation, and relationship-building skills.
  • Passion for supporting athletes, schools, and students in achieving their goals.
SALARY: $750K to $1M

We are looking for a passionate and results-driven Director of University of Illinois Relations & Sports to strengthen partnerships and develop innovative sports and NIL (Name, Image, and Likeness) programs for the school. This role requires an experienced leader with a deep understanding of the school’s culture, athletic programs, and the surrounding community. The ideal candidate will build strong relationships with student-athletes, faculty, alumni, and local organizations to maximize opportunities for the school’s athletic and academic growth.

Responsibilities:
  • Serve as the primary liaison between the company and University of Illinois, fostering a strong relationship with the athletic department, administration, and student body.
  • Manage and grow sports and NIL initiatives that align with the school’s goals and values.
  • Develop programs that empower student-athletes to maximize NIL opportunities while maintaining compliance with NCAA, regional, and school-specific regulations.
  • Collaborate with coaches, athletic staff, and faculty to create initiatives that benefit student-athletes academically, athletically, and personally.
  • Identify and secure sponsorships and partnerships with local and national brands to support school athletics and NIL programs.
  • Advocate for student-athletes and teams by creating awareness about NIL opportunities and offering guidance on navigating them responsibly.
  • Organize events, workshops, and training sessions for student-athletes, focusing on NIL education, personal branding, and career development.
  • Work with marketing teams to design promotional campaigns that highlight University of Illinois’ sports programs and athletes.
