President of Hockey

Location: Indianapolis, Colorado Springs or Michigan

The President of Hockey will be responsible for overseeing the growth and management of the Hockey Department, driving the development and success of hockey at all levels. This role will be instrumental in building relationships with players, teams, leagues, sponsors, and media partners to elevate the profile of hockey and create new opportunities for athletes, fans, and partners. The President will also oversee the growth of the hockey brand, online store, and merchandise, ensuring the department thrives both on and off the ice.

Responsibilities:
  • Strategic Leadership: Develop and execute long-term strategies to expand the Hockey Department, focusing on player development, team success, and growing the sport at all levels.
  • Social Media & Content Management: Manage and grow the department’s social media presence, create engaging content, and foster interaction with fans to enhance the visibility of players, teams, and events.
  • Player Branding & Sponsorships: Help hockey players build their personal brands, secure sponsorships, and grow their professional networks to create more opportunities on and off the ice.
  • Tournament & Event Management: Plan and oversee hockey tournaments, leagues, and live events, ensuring they are executed professionally and engage both fans and participants.
  • Recruitment & Relationship Building: Identify and recruit top hockey talent, coaches, and staff. Develop strong relationships with teams, leagues, schools, and sports organizations to expand the reach and success of hockey.
  • Fundraising & Sponsorships: Lead efforts to secure sponsorships, partnerships, and funding to ensure the growth and sustainability of the hockey program.
  • Develop Strategic Partnerships: Cultivate partnerships with hockey organizations, sports agencies, media outlets, and sponsors to increase visibility and create new revenue streams.
  • Community Outreach & Youth Development: Implement grassroots programs to grow the sport of hockey, focusing on youth development and providing opportunities for young athletes to progress in the sport.
  • Promote Diversity & Inclusion: Advocate for and implement programs that promote diversity, inclusion, and equity within the hockey community, ensuring opportunities for athletes of all backgrounds.
  • Player Well-being: Collaborate with health professionals to develop programs that support the physical and mental health of players, helping them maintain well-being both on and off the ice.
  • Media Relations & PR Strategy: Lead media relations and PR efforts to increase the exposure of hockey events, players, and teams through press releases, interviews, and media partnerships.
  • Analytics & Performance Tracking: Use data analytics to assess player performance, identify strengths and weaknesses, and optimize training and development programs.
  • Regulatory Compliance: Stay informed on national and international regulations governing hockey, ensuring the department is compliant with industry standards, including player contracts, sponsorship agreements, and tournament rules.
  • Develop an Alumni Network: Create and maintain an alumni network to foster ongoing relationships with former players, providing opportunities for mentorship and continued involvement in the hockey community.
Qualifications:
  • Hockey Leadership Experience: Proven experience in managing and growing a hockey program or organization, with a deep understanding of the sport at both professional and grassroots levels.
  • Industry Relationships: Established relationships with hockey leagues, teams, sports organizations, sponsors, and media partners.
  • Leadership & Negotiation Skills: Strong leadership and negotiation skills, with experience in building and managing teams, securing sponsorships, and driving strategic initiatives.
  • Passion for Hockey & Athlete Development: A passion for hockey and a commitment to developing players both on and off the ice, helping them achieve success in their careers.
  • Extensive Sports Management or Business Experience: At least 8-10 years of experience in sports management, event planning, or business development, particularly in the hockey or sports industry.
  • Sponsorship & Partnership Expertise: Experience in securing sponsorships, partnerships, and media deals to generate revenue for teams, events, and hockey organizations.
  • Creative & Innovative Vision: Ability to think creatively about marketing, fan engagement, and brand building, bringing fresh and innovative ideas to the sport of hockey.
  • Event Planning & Execution: Proven experience planning and executing hockey tournaments, leagues, and live events.
  • Global Perspective: Knowledge of the international hockey scene, including experience with international competitions, sponsorships, and partnerships.
  • Commitment to Inclusion & Accessibility: A dedication to promoting diversity and inclusion within the sport, ensuring opportunities for all athletes, regardless of background.
  • Tech-Savvy: Familiarity with the technological tools used in modern sports, including video analysis, performance tracking systems, and social media platforms.
SALARY: $450K to $750K+
AVAILABLE OPENING: 1 (But we are also looking for a VP)
